It 's SATURDAY!!!  That really has no meaning right now except I usually shop for a while and try to get in a nap......but, since I am on vacation every day seems like Saturday.  I used to wake up early and watch cartoons with Amy and Jay, would love to do that again, just a few times.
I think this is a new ABC song for you.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18ZT8IrN9qo   (GIGGLEBELLIES abc'S)                                                                                                 There are so many wonderful resources out there, parents, PLEASE work with these precious children.  They learn and they get to spend much wanted time with their favorite person - you!       cute pig video  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24QxEmxh-tc
    PIGS
(A link for a paper pig you can make, and you do not have to paint the plates. Color them pink or white with spots!)

Here's what you'll need...PaperPlatePig6RS6k
• Paper plate
• Dessert sized paper plate*
• Pink construction paper
• Pink pipe cleaner
• Black Marker
• Scissors
• Glue
• Google eyes (optional)
• Hole punch (optional)
*If you don’t have a small paper plate you can always make a circle with pink construction paper.
Here's how you make it...
1. Paint both paper plates pink. Glue the small plate onto the large plate, not in the center, but off set (as shown in the picture).
2. Cut out all of your shapes from pink construction paper. You will need: 4 pig feet, 1 round snout, and 2 triangle ears.
3. Glue all of your paper parts onto your pig's body. Glue on your google eyes (or use a marker to draw them on). Don't forget to draw on your pig's nostrils!
4. Make a hole at the top of your paper plate with a hole punch or scissors. Thread the pink pipe cleaner through the hole and curl it. .busybeekidscrafts.com/Paper-Plate-Pig.html

Also a few pig facts today, did you notice the farm animal theme???

  • Pigs are intelligent animals.
  • Like humans, pigs eat both plants and other animals.
  • A pig’s snout is an important tool for finding food in the ground and sensing the world around them.
  • Pigs have an excellent sense of smell.
  • There are around 2 billion pigs in the world.
  • People  farm pigs for meat such as pork, bacon and ham.
  • Some people like to keep pigs as pets.
  • Wild pigs (boar) are often hunted in the wild.
  • Pigs can pass on a variety of diseases to humans.
  • Relative to their body size, pigs have small lungs.
       *    Pigs can sunburn, that is why they roll in the mud to cover their skin AND to stay cool – they can’t sweat!!!

And last a story, read online, about 3 of my favorite pigs:

Happy Friday!!!

Thank Goodness it is Friday!!  If your child goes to pre-school, make sure you ask them to tell you about their day.  Don’t just say –”What did YOU do today?”  You need to be specific: “ Did you sing songs today?  What did you draw today?  Did you make anything today?  Did you play with ____ today?”  Your child will always (almost)  not tell you anything if you ask a generic question.

Good morning!  We are expecting a heat wave this weekend - 100 * at least, good thing I watered my plants early this morning.  I have some "9 o'clocks" that I got from my mom who got them from her sister, my aunt who died this year.  They truly bloom out at 9:00  or around there at night...I get so excited just watching them.  And I love having something from my Aunt Doe!

Nursery Rhyme for today:

Quick science! Frog

I hope to post a quick science fact page, sometimes there will be a video, sometimes a page you will read to your child!  FROGS!  Did you know a frog doesn't drink water???? It sits in water and soaks it through its skin!! Freaky, huh?     http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/animals/frog.html (websiste is ScienceKids.co)

I have decided that staying home is great!!!  Sometimes, I have not enjoyed it, this year I am cleaning!!!  Still!
Anyway, I want to post a new video, craft idea, SOMETHING that will help our children to become readers.
Did you know the single most important thing you can do is to read to your children....they will grow up learning to love books and will know YOU love them.  My year old grandniece has been looking at books and being read to since well before she could sit up.  She LOVES books!!!!
Found another You Tube video by KidsTV123. Here is the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BELlZKpi1Zs
This one is GREAT, has the correct sounds we teach.  If you play this several times, your child will immediately begin to pick up on this.  Remember, kindergarten teachers teach both letters together (capital and lower case) at the same time.  Later..... :)
Hopefully will be washing windows today!!

If you are the parents of young children, you MUST work with them.  Children are really a little behind now when they come into kindergarten if they do not know their ABC's.  There are GREAT videos on You Tube for children.
If your child doesn't know nursery rhymes, ABC's or how to count, you can let them listen to these videos.  They are Great!!!!
The first one I really like starts with the basic things:  nursery rhymes:
Go to   Old McDonald
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EK4SE3ou8w&feature=relmfu

Children will learn most things easier and faster WITH music!!

I have NO idea what happened to me yesterday, but I cleaned my kitchen.  It looks so good, I didn't even want to make coffee and mess up the sink this morning, h o w e v e r....WHO can start the day without coffee???    Not me!
So, I got up at 2:00 and have cleaned mirrors, dusted, rearranged furniture......I have no idea what is happening to me!! No, I can't be pregnant and "nesting."  I guess my inner self realized that "Whoa, we need to clean this place up!" I sure hope this cleaning spurt lasts.    :)
Have you ever noticed that a clean house just SMELLS so good???? ha ha!

EXHAUSTED....went to our grandniece's birthday party this weekend.  What a precious, delightful little thing she is - a joy to be around.  She is 1 ! I LOVED that her mama and daddy are doing such a fantastic job with her.  She has so much stimulation and love and they take such beautiful care of her.  She is developing so quickly and they constantly are searching for what they should be doing next with her.  They read with her daily, they TALK to her about EVERYTHING and she is "smart as a whip!"
So many parents do not work with their children, talk to them, or spend any time with them.  (I teach Kindergarten - remember- I know!) These parents claim they don't know what to do......nobody does at first.  ASK! or GOOGLE IT!
Hopefully, this blog will turn into an informative and helpful place for parents to come and find out how to help their children learn!

Couldn't sleep.......I have been thinking a lot about how children bully each other.  You  don't see it a lot in a  five year old , but it happens. It  hurts my heart that children bully other children!!  What would ever cause a child to try and hurt another child's feelings?  I think it is directly related to the lack of discipline that children receive now.  AND the way THEY are treated and respected or disrespected by their parents.
In my class this year, we are going to have a new NUMBER ONE rule - ABSOLUTELY NO HURTING SOMEONE ELSE'S FEELINGS OR BODY.
I always let the kids HELP me make the rules, then we try to stick by those all year and "drop a lollipop" if a rule is broken.  Each child starts out with 3 paper lollipops in a pocket on a wall  chart.  At the end of the day if you have kept ALL lollipops, you get a green smiley face on your hand.  :)
I am going to teach my children to STOP being mean, rude to others (if they start) and even to step in to stop other children they may see doing the same.  Our guidance counselor has mentioned this to them - I think it is great.  If we can stop it this early, we may be able to make a difference when they are older......WHY do people try to hurt other people?  I will never, ever understand this.

Since I teach kindergarten, I will HAVE to talk about education.  Our children in North Carolina have to read, write and spell when they leave kindergarten and go to 1st.  Our kindergarten is what 1st grade USED to be and there is more emphasis than ever on PHONICS!!
Let your child listen to this rap ABC's song, I think he/she will like it.  abc'S
http://singdancelearn.com/tag/alphabet-songs/

See what you think, children learn anything easier and quicker with music!
Good day!  Today I am still unpacking, we had a fantastic time at the beach - Harbor Island, SC. That is two islands up from Fripp Island (if you don't know where it is.)  Oh my- what amazing weather we had, it did not get above 85 the entire time we were there. Great week with great friends right next door.
I am slowly putting things away......I am so bad at working!!!! I have even wiped off my deck furniture to keep from doing this inside work.
I saw that a friend on fbook had gotten a bike, and of course, now I am on Craigslist trying to find a cheap bike.  It has been years, hopefully I can still ride.

Ok......I'm now a blogger!  This was so easy I am a little worried.
Mostly I like to talk and rattle on until I start noticing I've been tuned out.....
Now I am endless.....  :)

I have a strong faith in God, a beautiful family, and I teach kindergarten.  I am also "5" most of the time so the kids and I get along fine. I am blessed with many good friends and great co-workers.  I want a place to share ideas!  So, hello!
